La réanimation médicale est une discipline jeune, dynamique et évolutive. Elle devait avoir un livre de référence en langue française. La première édition de cet ouvrage, parue en 2001, a pleinement atteint cet objectif. Sa qualité scientifique et sa valeur pédagogique ont été reconnues par lensemble des réanimateurs.
